Ryde - Sevel

Marginal moraine from rethrust with overimprinted landforms

The Ryde-Sevel site encompasses a 5x5 km area east of Struer between the smaller towns of Vinderup, Ryde and Sevel. The site is thus part of the moraine landscape that constitutes the northern part of the geopark's land area, and which was formed in connection with the glacial thrust and melting of the Main Thrust.

The site contributes to illustrating the diversity of overprinted landscape forms on the series of marginal moraines from rethrusts. Comparing this site with the area's other large marginal moraine ( Nr. Lem – Nr. Nissum – Kamstrup ) provides an educational insight into the great variation in landscape formation by melting after the formation of a marginal moraine.

South of the ridge, the landscape drops down to the main stationary line ( Salshøj – Sønderhede ). To the east and west, the site is bounded by tunnel valleys, Hellegård Tunneldal and Stubbergård Sø – Søndersø, respectively.
