Nørre Nissum - Fabjerg
Small hilly moraine landscape with dead ice between the Main Stationary Line and marginal moraine from re-thrust
The landscape in the area is a hilly moraine landscape with many small, drainless depressions and isolated, low hilltops. The Main Stationary Line, which indicates the maximum extent of the Main Thrust, can be followed throughout the entire geopark area.
It is characteristic of the area that a few kilometers behind the often quite low marginal moraine of the Main Stationary Line, there is a more pronounced marginal moraine formed by a rethrust after the Main Thrust. It can be seen behind the Main Thrust Line at Fabjergkirkevej , and to the north it borders the spectacular marginal moraine at Nr. Lem – Nr. Nissum – Kamstrup .
In several places in the geopark area, the area between the two marginal moraines has been developed as moraine landscapes with a clear dead ice character. This applies to this site and, for example, the Lomborg – Bonnet - Heldum site. The landscape in the area Nr. Nissum – Fabjerg is a slightly hilly moraine landscape with many small, drainageless depressions and isolated, low hilltops. The many bogs and smaller lakes in the area are protected by Section 3 of the Nature Conservation Act (protected habitat types).
