Lemvig Tunneldal
Tunnel valley with meltwater cone. The striking valley landscape constitutes a key location in Geopark West Jutland
The location represents a landscape element, a tunnel valley, which is closely connected to a glacier edge, where meltwater has flowed in a channel under the glacier, and along the way has eroded through the substrate before the meltwater gushed out in front of the ice edge and has shaped the meltwater plain in front.
The valley was formed in connection with the maximum extent of the Late Weichselian ice age approximately 23,000-21,000 years ago and is closely connected to the Main Stationary Line, which constitutes another key element of Geopark West Jutland.
The other tunnel valleys in Geopark Vestjylland can be seen at Kilen , Stubbergård Sø-Flynder Sø and Hellegård Tunneldal .
