Sdr. Vosborg Heath
Heath with sandbanks with parabolic dunes on a hill island
Sønder Vosborg Hede has been designated as a Natura 2000 habitat area. Parts of the area are also protected. The geological value of the heaths primarily consists of the fact that they are open areas where the landscape forms, both dunes and large hilly glacial landscapes, appear very clearly. The area is included in NGI 77 - Skovbjerg Bakkeø, NGI 77-9 - Sdr. Vosborg Hede, and is designated as a "valuable geological area".
The area has been sparsely populated heathland since the Middle Ages. There have been few, but large heath farms, and large areas have been owned by the estates (here Nr. Vosborg ). At Sandfær Hede there is a branched network of dugouts, which point down towards an old crossing point at Lilleåen. Nørre Vosborg Hede contains significant burial mounds at the highest points in the terrain.
