Sir Lyngbjerg
Sir Lyngbjerg is a beautiful and interesting landscape that has historically also been an important area with large public meetings, celebrations and debates about democracy and freedom, which have attracted thousands of people over time.

The area has a historical walking trail with 8 memorial stones erected over a period of 100 years in connection with important national events, in memory of royal and local important people. The site also contains a geological story about the formation of the landscape.

The place and its history
Sir Lyngbjerg is a varied hilly landscape ( Geosite no. 26 ), which was used for grazing for many years. The area was also used as a training ground for the local men, after they had lost the war to the Prussians in 1864 and had to cede the duchies of Schleswig, Holstein and Lauenborg, which led to strong national feelings. In 1867, the Naur-Sir Shooting Association was established with training in the use of weapons and with the holding of spiritually edifying lectures with a focus on freedom of expression, democracy and the constitution. With the local teacher Hansen-Sir at the helm, the number of events grew to include folk festivals, outdoor church services and large public debate meetings with several thousand participants. In connection with such a public meeting in 1878, a collection was started for a memorial stone for King Frederik VII, who signed the Constitution of 1849, which led to Denmark having its first parliament – the Rigsdagen – and transitioning from absolute monarchy to a more democratic form of government. Over the next 100 years, 7 more memorial stones were erected in memory of royal and highly regarded local figures.

In 1879, Aktieselskabet Krunderup Plantage was founded (the name was changed to Aktieselskabet Sir Lyngbjerg Plantage in 1904) with the aim of planting an area of 20 hectares with trees in a way that takes into account the plantation's use as a recreational facility and party venue. In the following years, a wooden dance floor was made and a meeting pavilion was set up. At the highest point in the plantation, an observation tower was built in 1900. The tower has later been replaced 4 times - each time with a higher version, so that one could continue to look out over the trees that had gradually grown. Today, Sir Lyngbjerg is still a popular excursion destination, even though the time for large events with several thousand participants is over. Among other things, St. Hans's Eve is celebrated with a communal meal, church services are held, theater is performed and a number of other events are held. Several recreational routes have been created in the area.

The historic route
A special route in the plantation is the approximately 2 km long historical route, which takes visitors past all 8 memorial stones, the observation tower and a number of other special places. Along the route, there are information boards that tell excerpts of the plantation's history and the geology of the area and also contain a small quiz. The plantation also has a geocache route with its own quiz and 3 slightly longer marked hiking trails.

Collaboration with Geopark West Jutland
Sir Lyngbjerg is a great example of a special area that offers a combination of geological information and cultural history. The company has shown great interest in collaborating with the geopark to promote Sir Lyngbjerg as a geo- and non-geological site.
Treasure hunt - find the story in Sir - Lyngbjerg
An excellent way to encounter nature is through a treasure hunt.
Sir Lyngbjerg has therefore laid out 4 treasures that you can easily find help for via your GPS/mobile phone.
Since Sir Lyngbjerg is also a very historical area, the treasure hunt (Geocaching) is related to events back in time.
